What Is PROTO-AXIS?

PROTO-AXIS is an independent research project exploring how artificial intelligence agents, knowledge systems and digital services can cooperate within a coherent, understandable and accountable architecture.

It addresses fundamental questions about machine intelligence: who acts, under whose authority, what information means, which actions are permitted, and how decisions can be explained and verified.

Purpose and Vision

The project's purpose is to develop architectural principles for machine systems that are understandable, interoperable, traceable and subject to appropriate human oversight.

Its long-term vision is to contribute to reliable infrastructure for cooperation among people, AI agents and digital systems.

Architectural Foundation

The conceptual foundation of PROTO-AXIS is Heptagram, a seven-part architectural model:

• KERNEL — Coordination

• IDENTITY — Actors and authority

• ONTOLOGY — Shared meaning

• ETHOS — Rules and boundaries

• VERUM — Evidence and verification

• NEXUS — Communication

• LOGOS — Reasoning and consistency

These components represent architectural responsibilities rather than necessarily separate software services.

Current Status

PROTO-AXIS is presented as an evolving research and architectural project. Its public website documents the conceptual framework, design principles, illustrative workflows and proposed research directions.

Conceptual proposals, software prototypes and independently validated implementations are distinct stages of development. The existence of an architectural description does not imply that a complete operational system has been deployed or independently certified.
